Course Brief
Philippines follows the American system of education where students do 10+4 pattern, finishing school at year 10 followed by a degree course of 4years. Therefore, after 14years of education student get admission to MD in Medicine wishing to become Doctors.
In case of Indian students who are following 10+2 pattern, they will have to do a BS course to get admission to MD. Though after completing year 12th Indian students are passed on some credit, and the balance needs to be gained in further three semesters of BS course.
The syllabus is divided into Pre medicine and Medicine Therefore, 1.5 years of BS course followed by 4 years of MBBS will award you a degree of MD.
Furthermore, MBBS degree in India is equivalent to MD degree awarded to students by Universities in Philippines. Both are granted license to practices as General Practitioner (GP).
Both can further pursue PG degree to specialize in chosen medical field or become surgeons. The programme provides strong base in practical and OPD learning by providing students with ongoing rotational visits to various hospitals under the supervision of team of senior consultant doctors.
This provides students with hands on experience of understanding and learning various diseases through direct patient interaction.
After finishing the MBBS course students can choose to stay back and finish PG in Philippines or appear for USMLE or NEXT screening exam.
